Exploring the Impact of Different Color Temperatures on Artistic Expression

“Color of Light “Color of Light” exhibit is on display in the Cane Roots Art Gallery, downtown Christiansted. The exhibit runs between 6:00 and 8:00 at night. The two generations of Crucian artists, El Roy Simmonds (and Niarus Walker) will be exhibiting their work displayed. Both share the same love of expression. This resulted in an “unconscious work” that culminated into an exhibition that highlights the individuality of each artist’s approach to the expressive power of shadow and light. The exhibit will be accessible to the public until May. It will be open from noon until 5 pm every Tuesday through Saturdays.

David Simmonds was born and was raised within Christiansted. He graduated with an BA in the College of the Virgin Islands which is now known as known as the University of the Virgin Islands. Then, he was as an exchange student in the ***** Academy, Copenhagen, Denmark. There he studied the relationship and history between the Danish Virgin Islands and Denmark. The results of this research are evident in his work later. He completed the Masters in Fine Art at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. He honed his talents in drawing, painting as well as sculpting live models. The artist returned home and started teaching throughout many time.

Simmonds known for his achievements in a variety of areas, such as the fine arts, music education and business, retired in. The numerous international exhibits he has held which included New York, Denmark, Haiti and New York, have earned his the name “culture carrier”. She has been a prestigious winner of an BFA from Moore College and an MS Arts Education diploma at Florida State University. For many years Walker has served as an art teacher at St.Croix’s secondary and senior high school. Her work has been shown in art galleries across all over the United States as well as internationally. Walker made a statement in celebration of her exhibition alongside El’ Roy, who is a famous artist and draughtsman.
