Eileen Ryan was born in 1951 in a tiny town in Massachusetts. Eileen was the daughter of John Ryan his father, and Anna Ryan who was her mother. Anna was a teacher. Eileen was just six years old when her parents died in a car accident. The brother Tim was also killed in the crash.

Her career as an actor

Eileen began her acting career in 1970s by appearing on local television shows and commercials. In 1978 she made her feature film debut with the role of Peggy on the short-lived series “The Tomorrow People.” After that, she was able to reprise support roles in three more films, before landing the main part of Sue Snively in”Happy Days,” an ABC comedy “Happy Days” (1981-1983).After performing the role of Sue during three consecutive seasons, Eileen was forced to leave “HappyDays” to focus on her own profession as an actress. The actress continued appearing on TV until 1989 when she stopped acting. Eileen won many awards during her acting career, including two Emmy Awards as well as two Golden Globe Awards.

The show received a cult following both in America and Europe. It was followed by two spinoffs and many merchandising opportunities. After Happy Days ended its run, Eileen Ryan returned to Britain for three seasons of Coronation Street (1988-1990), following which she moved back to America to appear in one season of The West Wing (1990-1991). After a while, she took a break from acting to have her children and husband John Mahoney raise them. Eileen Ryan then returned to acting in A Beautiful Mind (2001). Following this success Eileen Ryan was cast as a co-star with Russell Crowe opposite Tom Hanks in A Beautiful Mind (2001). The film was awarded numerous prizes including Best Picture and Best Director at the Academy Awards.
