Thinking of Learning As a Reward

Published

on

A student is basically a person enrolled in an educational institution or other formal learning institute and who is under instruction with aims of gaining knowledge, mastering new skills, developing professional careers and attaining employment in preferred field. In this system of education, all the learners are grouped together based on their different ability to learn. There may be various levels of learners such as beginners, intermediate and advance learners.

A student can choose any school for learning. Before enrollment in any school, the student should meet minimum academic requirements by means of TOEFL, GMAT, ACT and other tests that can help determine the suitability of the school. There are some fields of study in which every student has to undergo training such as, teaching, English language and culture among others. To gain entry into these fields of study, a student has to clear all the entrance examination such as, TOEFL, GMAT, ACT and others.

To develop his knowledge further, a student can pursue higher education or further training. Certain institutions also offer diploma courses in which students learn new skills in addition to their regular coursework. Students who have passed the basic level of learning can move on to the next level of learning by gaining extra credits. Some students opt for advanced courses which enhance their knowledge and skill set in addition to increasing employability and earning potential.

If I am a student then i must follow certain rules and regulations. It is an etiquette in our society to keep distance from our parents when they are present or around. The best way to get close to them is by talking about themselves and the issues that have come up during our daily lives. This helps us understand better and comprehend what we are supposed to do in specific situations. When a student wants to raise his/her hand during class time, there must be at least two students to hear out the same statement.

During examination times, there are certain questions that need to be answered briefly. The speaker does not have to introduce himself unless he desires so if there are no other students to ask, then the teacher can just mention this by saying, “That is the question which all the students have to answer.” After answering the question, the speaker again asks, “leeship?” If the student raises his/her hand, the teacher says, “Yes.”

In a nutshell, being a student is a learning experience that is both challenging and rewarding. If someone were to say that learning is not a reward but more of hard work, then we would definitely agree with him. But life is about rewards, isn’t it? So the next time you think of studying hard to become successful, try thinking of it as a reward for yourself.

Senator Fatima Payman: Breaking Barriers and Inspiring Change in Australian Politics

Published

on

By

In the diverse landscape of Australian politics, few stories are as inspiring and groundbreaking as that of labor Senator Fatima Payman.

As the first hijab-wearing Muslim woman in the Australian Parliament, Payman’s journey from Afghan refugee to federal senator is a testament to the power of perseverance, representation, and the evolving face of Australian democracy.

A Journey of Hope and Determination

Fatima Payman’s story begins far from the halls of Parliament House in Canberra.

Born in Afghanistan, she arrived in Australia as a refugee at the tender age of eight.

Her family’s journey, like many others, was marked by hope for a better future and the challenges of building a new life in a foreign land.

Growing up in Perth, Western Australia, Payman quickly embraced her new home while maintaining strong connections to her Afghan heritage.

Her early experiences as a young Muslim woman in Australia shaped her worldview and ignited a passion for social justice and community service.

Education and Early Career

Payman’s dedication to education led her to the University of Western Australia, where she earned a degree in Public Health.

This foundation in healthcare and public policy would later inform her political priorities and advocacy work.

Before entering politics, Payman worked as an organizer for the United Workers Union, where she championed the rights of workers and fought for fair working conditions.

This experience on the front lines of labor rights deepened her understanding of the challenges faced by everyday Australians and solidified her commitment to creating positive change through political action.

Making History in the Senate

In 2022, at the age of 27, Fatima Payman achieved a historic milestone by being elected to the Australian Senate representing Western Australia.

Her election was notable not only for her youth but also for the fact that she became the first hijab-wearing Muslim woman in the federal parliament.

Payman’s presence in the Senate chamber, adorned with her hijab, sent a powerful message about the changing face of Australian politics and the importance of diverse representation.

Her election was celebrated as a significant step forward for inclusivity and multiculturalism in Australia’s democratic institutions.

Policy Focus and Advocacy

As a senator, Payman has been vocal on a range of issues, with a particular focus on:

1. **Immigration and Refugee Rights**: Drawing from her own experiences, Payman has been a strong advocate for compassionate immigration policies and support for refugees.

2. **Workers’ Rights**: Continuing her work from her union days, she has been a vocal supporter of fair labor practices and workers’ protections.

3. **Education**: Payman has emphasized the importance of accessible and quality education for all Australians, regardless of their background.

4. **Climate Change**: Recognizing the urgent need for action, she has supported initiatives to address climate change and promote sustainable practices.

5. **Social Cohesion**: Payman has worked to bridge cultural divides and promote understanding between different communities in Australia.

Challenges and Triumphs

Payman’s journey in politics has not been without its challenges.

As a young woman of color and a visible Muslim in a field still dominated by older, white men, she has faced scrutiny and, at times, discrimination.

However, her resilience and unwavering commitment to her values have earned her respect across the political spectrum.

Her presence in parliament has also opened up important conversations about diversity, representation, and the evolving nature of Australian identity.

Payman has used her platform to challenge stereotypes and advocate for a more inclusive vision of Australia.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Perhaps one of Senator Payman’s most significant contributions is the inspiration she provides to young Australians, particularly those from diverse backgrounds.

Her success story demonstrates that there is a place for everyone in Australian democracy, regardless of their religion, ethnicity, or background.

Payman has been active in engaging with young people, visiting schools and community centers to share her story and encourage civic participation.

Her message of hope and empowerment resonates with many who may have previously felt excluded from the political process.

Looking to the Future

As Senator Fatima Payman continues her work in the Australian Parliament, she remains committed to her core values of social justice, equality, and community empowerment.

Her journey from refugee to senator is not just a personal triumph but a reflection of Australia’s potential as a diverse, inclusive, and dynamic democracy.

In her own words, Payman has stated, “I hope to be an inspiration to all women, especially young women of color, that they can make their mark on the world and create positive change.”

As she continues to break barriers and challenge the status quo, Senator Fatima Payman is indeed writing a new chapter in Australian political history, one that promises a more representative and inclusive future for all Australians.

Ecological Methodology in Educational Support: A Mandate for Inclusive Practices

Implementing an ecological methodology is paramount in fostering a responsive support system that caters to the heterogeneous needs of all students. This paradigm is crucial for establishing a safe, supportive, inclusive, and disciplined environment within educational settings. It underpins access to the broad spectrum of educational opportunities our institution provides. The support rendered is differentiated according to the unique requirements of each student, typically encompassing a tripartite model of intervention that ranges from minimal to intensive in nature.

Educational Support through Case Management: A Critical Analysis

Case Management emerges as a pivotal service for students, necessitating augmented support in areas such as advocacy, engagement, socio-emotional growth, and modifications in curriculum and pedagogy beyond the standard differentiated support strategies employed in classrooms. The assessment of student needs is centered on their capacity to interact with social and educational milieus. Case Managers are proficient in executing academic support strategies in compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA) and the Disability Standards for Education 2005 (DSE). Furthermore, they offer specialized guidance to curriculum staff in formulating Inclusive Education approaches and engage proactively with parents and community stakeholders to forge robust partnerships, reinforcing the ethos of 'every student succeeding'.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Role of Student Engagement Advocate

As a Support Teacher focusing on inclusion and inclusive education, your role within high-performance teams involves aiding teachers and curriculum leaders in devising and implementing efficacious strategies for students with diverse learning needs. Reporting to the school HOD/HOSES and Principal or their delegate, this role encompasses:

Advocacy for student needs in collaboration with stakeholders.

Develop and manage bespoke student plans and resources.

Coordination of data collection and the composition of student assessment verifications.

Assistance to mainstream teachers in modifying class content and assessments.

Design and instruction of subjects, inclusive of short-cycle intervention programs.

Co-teaching in targeted classes alongside subject teachers.

Liaison with various specialists to execute comprehensive support programs.

Contribution to the planning of extracurricular activities and participation in pertinent meetings.

The Role of Inclusion Advocate

This role entails leading initiatives and tasks that promote inclusion within the school under the auspices of the support HOD/HOSES. Responsibilities include:

Comprehension of pertinent legislation and policies affecting students with disabilities.

Collaboration with school teams to enhance student outcomes and foster inclusive practices.

Provision of expertise in educating students with diverse needs.

Coordination with specialists to integrate services that augment student learning.

Role in Curriculum and Pedagogy - Faculty Support

This role involves close collaboration with Curriculum Heads of Departments and educators to adapt and modify curriculum and assessments. Key responsibilities include:

Development of reasonable adjustments in partnership with curriculum staff.

Provision of pedagogical support and advocacy for explicit teaching methodologies.

Management of case files and assistance to mainstream teachers in curriculum modifications.

Co-teaching and involvement in the planning of extracurricular activities.

Complex Case Management within an Academic Framework

Complex Case Management at Park Ridge State High School represents a dynamic and adaptable process initiated when a student requires elevated levels of support beyond those provided by Tier 3 – extensive support. This approach enables the re-engagement of the student at an appropriate tier level (one, two, or three), contingent upon their specific needs. The policy, procedure, and practice of managing complex cases are distinguished by their adaptability, responding to the varying intensity, frequency, and impact of the required interventions.

Identification of Need

The identification of a student's need for complex case management is predicated on three primary factors:

The intensity of the requisite support.

The associated impact and risk level concerning the student.

The frequency of support needed.

Complex Case Management Process

The Complex Case Management process entails several pivotal steps:

Collaborative Identification: Engage stakeholders in identifying students who require significant support upon enrollment or through referral to the Student Services Support (SSS) team.

Comprehensive Assessment: Execute a thorough assessment encompassing emotional, social, physical, or cognitive vulnerabilities, risks of disengagement from education, and potential for suspension or exclusion.

Evidence Collation: Accumulate and analyze evidence, including observations, work samples, standardized test results, and OneSchool data on incidents, attendance, and existing support plans.

Formation of Management Team: Constitute a complex case management team comprising internal and external members. Designate a pivotal representative to oversee the management process, organize and chair meetings, and maintain communication with all stakeholders.

Documentation: Meticulously record and document each complex case in the OneSchool system.

Support Plan Development: Formulate detailed support plans documenting the intensity and frequency of the support required, incorporating tools like the Behaviour Risk Assessment Tool, Individual Behaviour Plan, Curriculum Plans, and Personalized Learning supports.

Ongoing Evaluation: Coordinate and collect data to appraise the actions taken in support of the student every three weeks.

Tri-weekly Review Meetings: Conduct regular meetings with the case management team to evaluate the necessity for additional actions, ascertain the effectiveness of interventions, and revise plans as needed.

Intervention Assessment: Assess the efficacy of interventions and determine whether the case necessitates escalation or further intervention.

In summation, Complex Case Management is an essential, multifaceted process meticulously tailored to address the unique needs of each student requiring additional support. This approach ensures that interventions are responsive, evidence-based, and congruent with the student's requirements, facilitating their successful reintegration into the educational milieu.
