Bovey Lee – Drawing with a knife

Cut paper art is given a whole different dimension by Bovey Lee. A Hong Kong born artist using her native materials, rice paper and silk creates master pieces. These materials are not just sustainable but also have a cultural significance. Rice paper is used for cutting out and silk is used as a back drop.

Her cut paper work has a wide range of stimulation from geometric patterns to detailed scenes sharing stories. Bovey says “power, sacrifice and survival are the underlying parameters in my cut paper work”. Within these parameters Bovey tries to address social, political and urban issues through her art work.

Having a unique technique, goal and idea Bovey really is a genius!
