Amazing Snow art built using snow shoes.
Simone beck an orienteer turned artist uses his skill of orienteering and his favorite snow shoes to create the most awe-inspiring art pieces on snow. Simone creates his art on the frozen lakes of Les Arces where he owns a vacation apartment and spends most of his winter. Originally Simone belongs to Southern England.
Simone’s started snow art as a fun activity which later turned into a more serious vocation. Snow art is no light or easy job, in one of his interviews Simone said that it takes approximately ten hours to finish his art work and at times he leaves them unfinished because his feet either get too cold or too tired.
Simone also claims that he have never damaged any ice in the process of creating art and he always test’s it before starting out on his master pieces by jumping on the shallowest areas of the ice, which is a risk but simply shows how passionate Simone is about his art work.
Simone’s designs are chosen from the world of geometry. Mandelbrot set, Koch curve, Sierpinski triangle are three of the artist’s favorites.
His art is hugely dependant on the weather. Some of his pieces last a whole season till there is heavy snowfall and some don’t even make it to near completion. His work is compared with crop circles a lot as the similarity in the two phenomenon is uncanny. Simone denies being involved with crop circles but he says he would love to work on such a project, but with the permission of the farmers of course! Till then enjoy his masterpieces on snow.
