Colunata House – A modern nature loving marvel by Mario Martins
A modern marvel has been created on the lands of Portugal by a local yet talented artist Mario Martins. The residence has been named Colunata House. Colunata House is built in the south of Portugal, in Luz-Lagos. The beautiful location faces towards the sea and provides breath taking views. The ambience and atmosphere of these lands is exceptionally natural and tranquil.
The architect, Mario Martins incorporated these natural elements gladly in his design for the house. The building itself has been designed in a very modern way, having white colored organic masses clustered together which conclude in a semi-circular opening. The pool has been set dramatically in that opening while the sea views have been used artistically as a back drop.
The residence is very well connected to its surrounding areas creating a very pleasant transition from the interior to the exterior. All the panoramic views have been used to the maximum resulting in the effortless inclusion of nature into the design.
The central terrace of the residence serves as the foremost space of the house which not only fulfils the prerequisite of privacy but also serves as the hub. All the main activities of the house are planned around this terrace on a singular floor. There are five bedrooms with bathrooms and a spacious living room which guides toward the kitchen. The garage, technical and service areas are provided to guarantee the smooth running of the house.
Even though the design approach is utterly modern the materials and construction techniques utilized are purely local. The residence has been designed while keeping in mind the solar orientations and effective wind protection has been provided. By doing so Martins has proved himself as not only a nature loving but also a responsible Architect.
